Meet SKLZ: Hubba's Feature Brand of the Month
We officially have a handful of featured brand reviews under our belt and we’re not slowing down anytime soon. If you missed last month’s featured brand you take take a peek here. This month, we are thrilled to shine a light on the sports industry and to profile one of our early Hubba adopters – SKLZ.
Based in Carlsbad, California, SKLZ is laser-focused on creating products that prepare athletes for their sport. From pitching machine for baseball to FBU training gear for football, this brand has it all.
We were lucky enough to chat with bubbly Jenn Kershaw from SKLZ who is the International Sales and Marketing Specialist. Jenn, who was also a soccer goalkeeper for 13 years, filled us in on the ins and outs of the brand. She told us SKLZ was just about to hold another SKLZ olympics – which is their quarterly company wide competitions.
I asked Jenn to tell me something about the company that their consumers may not know. We discussed how SKLZ is a company for athletes by athletes. In fact, 80% of the SKLZ team plays high level sports, and 6 people play professional. She also mentioned that from every step of the way in the product development process there is an athlete involved – from design to execution.
SKLZ is Jacked Up With Awesome Content
As a brand that produces a ton of high quality content (as seen on nearly all of their ecommerce product pages), it’s important for SKLZ to share this content with their retailers in a timely fashion. On their brand website they include a huge amount of quality product videos, high-res images, detailed product descriptions and great user reviews.
How SKLZ Uses Hubba and No Longer Sends Hard drives in the Mail
We chatted with Jenn about how drastically different her role used to be and how behind the retail industry is when it comes to sharing product content.
SKLZ is a global company with offices in Asia Pacific, Europe, the Americas, Africa and the Middle East. All of SKLZ team members are looking for content and marketing assets to help sell their products. On top of the regular product attributes like SKU number and product images, SKLZ also has instructional videos on how to use their products and how to train with their products. As a company they house a lot of content, which means they need to share a lot of content too.
Jenn supports this Global team and is faced with the challenge of delivering all of this SKLZ content globally, every day.
Jenn shared a hilarious tidbit of info with me about how she used to ship hard drives to Japan that were filled with 400 packing files (also known as high-res images, .eps etc). High res images take up a heck of a lot of space, so being able to store them and easily send them to whoever needs them is a struggle. Now Jenn can store her assets in one place (in the cloud on Hubba) and be able to easily share them. No more UPS moments.
That One Piece of Content Retailers Want from Brands
Biggest request that SKLZ gets from their retailers: images. Always images – and videos. That’s the number one request from Retailers – high res images take up a lot of file space. Now SKLZ simply sends out links to their product profiles which allows their retailers to be self sufficient and saves Jenn a ton of time.

I asked Jenn a few questions about her experience with Hubba so far.
Emma: How are you currently using Hubba?
Jenn: We use Hubba regularly as a communication tool with our top customers. It is also a great way to share brand assets with other members of the team who represent the SKLZ brand all over the world!
Have you cut back on emails sent back and forth for product image/information requests?
Absolutely. Hubba has allowed us to streamline asset requests and allows us to save a lot of time and still provide our team members with the things they need.
What do you like the most about using Hubba?
Hubba makes sharing marketing assets so easy! It has been a great way to connect with other people in the Hubba network as well to further promote and grow our brand in many different regions.
