When I began to write this article, I realized I didn’t even know how to define a sauce. Is it a solid? Liquid? As it turns out, they’re referred to as ‘soft solids’ in most scientific articles I’ve found. But it didn’t stop there – there’s so much to learn about what happens behind the scenes when a sauce is created… some things you may not even realize as you’re making it.

The 42nd edition of the Winter Fancy Food Show took place in San Francisco last week, bringing together 33,000 industry professionals and showcasing over 80,000 specialty foods and beverages from around the globe. These niche food and beverage products are defined by the Specialty Food Association as being “of the highest grade, style, and/or quality in their respective categories.”
For many, the convenience of eating out 3+ days a week just isn’t feasible – time constraints, budget, family, or all of the above, have people returning to their kitchens and creating their own culinary creations. This, of course, is made easier by the fact that recipes, ideas, and advice are all readily available online.
Whether it’s to keep up with their New Year’s resolutions, save time on a busy schedule, or get better acquainted with the art of cooking, more and more households are signing up for meal delivery kits rather than making the trip to their local market or grocery chain. Could this be good news for food and beverag
