Hubba-UB Podcast: CMO Nik Ingersoll on Turning Wasted Foods into Super Snacks
Barnana’s story begins on a hot summer’s day in Brazil in 1981, with co-founder Caue’s father, Joao Suplicy. One scavenged skylight and unintentional experiment later, the idea for the super potassium snack® was born.

In 2001, Caue relocated to Southern California to begin his career as a professional triathlete. He continued the Suplicy family tradition and continued to share the banana superfood with his friends and fellow athletes across the country. In 2010, Caue, Nik and Matt decided to share Barnana with the rest of the world.
Nik and his team’s mission is to eliminate organic waste from organic banana farms. Imperfect bananas are typically immediately rejected, contributed to the 56% of food in Latin America that is wasted before even reaching distribution. Rather than let these go to waste, they are up-cycled and turned into delicious and nutritious snacks. Tune in to hear more about Barnana’s inspirational story.
